3Hip Hop (eng. hip-hop) is a youth subculture that appeared in the late 1970s among the African Americans.

The terms ” rap ” and “hip hop” are often used interchangeably, which leads to erroneous understanding and confuses the reader. The first refers to a musical style, and the second refers to the subculture as a whole.

There are several versions of the origin of the word ” hip-hop “.

One of the popular versions is the story about what one served in the U.S. Army friends known DJ, listened to the samples and sang the recitative “hip/hop/hip/hop” (similar to “left, right, left, right”). DJ, hearing this, began to use the term for its rhythmic music that has been picked up by other DJs.

The very phrase “hip-hop” reflects a certain “jumping” his rhythm, a kind of dance styles, which enable it to be clearly distinguished from the popular style of “Disco”.

“Hip-hop” (” hip hop “), as a cultural phenomenon of street art or art of the metropolis (underground, at least in the beginning of its history) includes three different directions:

1. Painting/design “Graffiti” (“Graffity” – “scratched”) wall paintings and drawings;

2. Dance style – “breakdance” (“break dance”) is unique in its plasticity and rhythm of the dance, which laid the fashion for the entire culture of hip-hop sportswear;

3. Style of music: “Rap” (“rap”) rhythmic recitative clearly marked with rhymes and musical rhythm DJ. Rap has three classifications: the “fast rap” (one rapper talking to another); “life” rap often contains Mat); “commercial rap” (hip-hop, R’n’b and dance rap).

Hip-hop has become the first culture, most fully embodied and original ideology of contemporary African-American culture. This ideology was built on the antagonism of the American white Anglo-Saxon culture.

Over the past decade have also formed their own fashion, be radically different from the traditional fashion of the white population, has its own jargon and its own cultivated manner of pronunciation, dance styles, his graphic art – graffiti (images and inscriptions on the walls, made by aerosol spray or special markers with paint) and also movies (not definitely about rappers, but the plot taking themes from the Negro environment, see the movie “barbershop”, “Hustle & flow”, “Guys next door”, “don’t be a menace to South Central while drinking your juice in the hood”; rappers also increasingly becoming a film actor).

Thus, to draw a clear line between hip-hop and contemporary African American subculture becomes difficult.

Despite changing every year, the fashion of hip-hop, in General it has a number of distinctive features.
