    9When I met American drummer Gregg Bandana, we knew about him is that he played and recorded with the famous avant-garde artist and innovator of jazz pianist Cecil Taylor, the same man who was turned into a cymbal orchestra of any tool. It was a unique case in the history of jazz: the great pianist has included in its album of the works of another artist and allowed him to play solos in two songs. But this glorious episode in the history of jazz has its own prehistory.

    Gregg Bendian was born in 1963 in new Jersey. In the family music sounded all day: parents Gregg Martin and Patricia listened to everything from Tchaikovsky to Sinatra and the Beatles to miles Davis. This could not affect future preferences Gregg. Luckily for him, the school where he studied, was developed system of art education, and the boy opened up a new world of music.

    13What are the different styles of music? Musical style – the notion of succinct and comprehensive. It can be defined as a figure of unity, the totality of means of artistic expression and ideological content through the language of music.

    The concept of style of music is so widespread that itself begs the relation: this term refers to different eras, genres, schools, and of individual composers and even performers. Let’s try to understand what are the different styles of music.

    The style of the era

    The concept of style of the era focuses on the historical aspect. There are many classifications, some of which highlight the major historical periods in the development of music (Renaissance, Baroque, classicism, modernity, etc.), while others are crushed history of music in a relatively small periods previously identified in other art disciplines (romanticism, impressionism, modernism, etc.).

    A classic example of the style of the era is Baroque music, the characteristics of which is the interest in the inner world of the personality, the dramatic, high-contrast image of the forces of nature, the development of Opera and instrumental music (C. Monteverdi, A. Vivaldi, G. F. Handel). Continue reading
